- View and order secondary school transcripts
- Send their secondary school transcript to post-secondary institutions (colleges and universities)
- Order their graduation certificate (if graduated)
- View their B.C. Scholarship awards
- View their provincial exam or graduation assessment results
- Your Personal Education Number (PEN) - Check your report card to find your PEN. See Find Your PEN
- A valid email address / Your date of birth / Your legal first and last name
There can be a lot to remember throughout a school year. There are a lot of important steps to take in grade 12. Here is a checklist of items to consider. Please note that this checklist is just a guide. Dates can change, so please take the individual responsibility to check important dates that are pertinent to you. Please let me know if there is anything you think would be useful to add.

September:
- Ensure the classes you are currently enrolled in meet the admission requirements of the institution(s) or program(s) you want to attend.
- On-line courses (VLN, Ebus, SIDES, etc)? UBC: must be 100% complete by January 30th and SFU: must be 100% complete by January 30 if you wish to use course(s) in the calculation of your competitive admission average. Due to Covid, last year the date was completion by May. Ensure you know the timeline Check with individual post-secondary institutions regarding on-line courses!
- Make last minute course changes with your counsellor, if necessary and if possible.
- Ensure you will have 80 credits (Grades 10 through 12) to meet BC graduation requirements. This must include: English 12, CLC 12 and 3 other grade 12 courses.
- Document your achievements and awards - keep organized for scholarships and post-secondary applications.
- Have an up-to-date resume available at all times.
- Set up an email account with a professional email address for post-secondary correspondence.
- DO NOT use “Hotmail” email accounts as they are known to redirect email from post-secondary institutions to “junk mail”. GMAIL account to communicate with universities/ colleges
- Ensure you have a Social Insurance Number: www.servicecanada.gc.ca
- Have a discussion with your parents regarding your post-secondary choices - keep them informed about the options you have and the decisions you are making.
- Find out dates and times for TOEFL and SAT exams (whichever is required for US schools).

- Attend post-secondary info sessions at school, lower mainland locations, or post-secondary campuses.

October:
- Explore your post-secondary options at www.educationplannerbc.ca or www.myblueprint.com/sd39
- Make sure you know the application deadline dates and tuition costs for colleges and universities

- Start applying for post-secondary in October (some institutions have earlier application start dates).

- Pay the application fees, otherwise you will not receive any correspondence on “what to do next.”
- Apply for residence, if required.
- Fill out your Student Transcript Services (STS) Choices Form online (see link below)
- This will allow the Ministry of Education to send your interim marks to the Institutions of your choice.
- When you are completing the online Student Transcript Services (STS), you ARE NOT applying to post-secondary institutes nor is it self-reporting! You are simply giving the Ministry of Education your permission to send your interim and final grades to the post-secondary institutes of your choice when the time comes!
- PLEASE select all BC institutions, this will simplify your life if you were to make changes and apply to another institution

- Students can access the StudentTranscripts Service at: www.studenttranscripts.gov.bc.ca/. Students must create a Basic BCeID account to access their information. Students need only complete their PSI selections once in the current school year. Students may add to their selections at any time up through early July, 2022. Students may make up to 25 selections free of charge within six months after completing their last course. After six months, students will be charged $10 per transcript, payable on the StudentTranscripts Service.

- Think is Grad Transitions complete? Go to the Grad Transitions tab under "Grade 12's" and follow the prompt.
- Find out any additional information that your post-secondary application requires (proof of citizenship, letters of reference, essays, profile, supplemental, art portfolios, etc).

January:
- Check Deadlines: for your university of choice
- Write it down with reminders on a CALENDAR / PHONE
- deadline for fall program changes (you want to apply to a different program than originally sent)
- Mail your transcripts to institutions if they ask for your first term marks to be mailed (to be obtained from the office). This is mostly applicable for Eastern Universities (i.e., U. of Toronto.)
- Find out how to obtain grades or transcripts for courses you are taking online (via VLN, etc.)
- Ensure you have a back-up plan in case you do not get into the institution or program of your choice.
- Grad Yearbook/Composite Picture: If you weren't able/did not get your picture taken by Artona, they will be at Van Tech to ensure your picture is taken for the composite and yearbook at
- Numeracy Assessment: Necessary requirement to graduate. If you didn't write the numeracy assessment last June, the re-write is . Please see Mr. Cuerrier for more information.
February:
- For some post-secondary institutions application deadlines are at the end of February. If you have not done so, start applying
- Call the admissions office at post-secondary institutions for last minute changes to your applications, if necessary.
- Check your e-mail and your student account (provided to you by the institution(s) of your choice), to get updates on your application and to find out about any missing documents. Check your “To Do List” on your account.
March:
- Most institutions will send letters or emails advising you to self-report your marks
- If you have not received an admission offer from SFU, self-report term 2 marks.
- Follow-up with institutions with any uncertainties (residence, marks, English requirement, fees, etc.)
April:
- Take the LPI test, if needed: http://www.lpitest.ca/
- If you are not graduating or want to upgrade courses, consider Adult Education. Stay tuned for the adult educators visit to Van Tech.
- Student Fees, Grad Fees or other fees owing: see accountant with Ms. Yim in the main office.
- Part of the Grad Ceremony requires some information from you about yourself and what is next for you. Please fill out the form in the link provided to tell us a little about yourself. This will be read aloud when you cross the stage. If inappropriate, the tweet will be changed by Ms. Coflin and Mr. Cuerrier and will be replaced with a generic congratulation.
May:
- Student Fees, Grad Fees or other fees/items - Make sure that you have settled up any fees owing with Ms. Rendy Yim in the main office.
June:
- June - Deadline to accept admission offers from universities and deposits
- Attend course registration sessions in colleges and universities to prepare for your fall timetable
- Register for courses. Most universities assign a time based on GPA; colleges based on application date.

- Students who are certain to fail English 12 and are under 19 years of age on June 30, 2019 can be directed to take Completion English Studies 12 at Summer School with a Letter of Permission from a school administrator. Students who are planning to take a 2019 Summer School Remedial course are advised to sign up early before the courses fill up or before a class is cancelled due to low enrolment. Cancellation of remedial courses due to low enrolment will begin mid-June.
July/August:
- Attend new orientation sessions offered by colleges and universities and register for your courses.
September:
