Career Life Connections: required by the Ministry of Education for Grade 12 Graduation.
There are 5 Big Ideas that will guide us as we work through this course:
- Career-Life Development includes ongoing cycles of exploring, planning, reflecting, adapting and deciding. - Career-Life Decisions influence and are influenced by internal and external factors including local and global trends. - Engaging in networks and reciprocal relationships can guide and broaden career-life awareness and options. - A sense of purpose and career-life balance support well-being. - Life-long learning and active citizenship foster career-life opportunities for people and communities.
You will be provided with a duotang containing the assignments we will be completing in this course. Some activities will be done in class, and some you will be expected to complete on your own outside of class time. Duotangs will be collected for assessment from time to time with advance notice from your teacher.
Our work in CLC can be organized into 5 units:
Self-Care / Who am I? / Connections / Capstone /. Transition Plan
Good to Know: - This course has replaced Grad Transitions. - There are no mandatory volunteer hours you must complete before graduation. - This course is graded – it is not pass/fail. - You must submit a Capstone project in order to pass this course.
Capstone: A Capstone is a project that allows you to demonstrate your learning using an area of interest as the basis for the project. Ideally, this would be an area you are passionate about as you will spend a minimum of 30 hours working with this topic of interest. If you have a personal laptop or other device, you are encouraged to bring it to class when we begin the research portion of your Capstone. Students will be expected to submit their Capstones to be uploaded so that they can be celebrated by their peers in a Digital Capstone Fair.
